BENGALURU -- India's central bank on Wednesday barred private lender Kotak Mahindra Bank from taking new customers via online and mobile banking channels, and from issuing fresh credit cards.

The Reserve Bank of India said in a statement that Kotak Mahindra Bank did not address "significant concerns" that it raised in 2022 and 2023 after inspecting the lender's information technology system.
